I decided to take a break from Late Blooming for a while, but I figured I should do a painting of Neeka to leave up on the site to announce this.

I have more details of the story I want to clear up before I just pursue it for the sake of drawing a comic or having a project to show people. I’ve already proven to myself that I can draw comics, and complete a story, and I think I should spend more time crafting the story into something I can really believe in and be proud of, rather than just fulfill a numeric value of updates per week. Next time I think I’d like to thumbnail out the rest of the story before I get started so I can step back and look at the whole, edit it, and work on it with confidence.

Plus, I’ve been really wanting to animate more lately, and I’ve felt the call to write and develop other projects (such as Robin in the City and some short stories).  So that’s what I’m going to do for now. I’ll probably come back to the comic once I feel it is ready.  It might be soon, it might be later, it might be the same story or something completely re-imagined. We’ll see, but I know that for now, I have to work on other things. I might write a little more later!

For now, thanks so much to everyone who has been reading.  It really means a lot, and I hope you’ll be interested in whatever I come back with.

You can keep track of what I’m up to on tumblr, twitter, and deviantArt  if you’d like to!

Well, I’m sorry that I won’t be getting updates anymore (or at least not for the time being), but I do completely understand wanting to work the story more. You have a really great character, who seems to be relate-able to people who have experienced social phobia, to people who had no idea how people like Neeka feel.
I’m glad this story means so much to you. For myself, I won’t mind waiting for the revised (or continued, whatever it turns out to be) story. I’m hooked on it now, and I doubt any version of this could be any less captivating. :)

Thanks for letting us know. Just be sure that the second you’re back on this, I’m gonna be there to read it. While we wait, is there something else we can see from you ? You were talking about animations, i’d like to see that too.
Keep us informed and keep up your good work !

Aww well I totally understand that. I’ve really enjoyed this comic so far- especially the elegant black and whites you’ve been achieving.

I agree with the people who have thanked you for letting us know. Can’t wait to see whatcha do!

Do whatcha gotta do. I think this story has lots of potential, but I look forward to whatever you might conjure. Best of luck!

I understand. The story needs some direction. This comic has gotten me wanting to do some water coloring again. I loved it, but then… I don’t know. I just kinda stopped.

NOOOO, I’M AT THE (temporary) END ALREADY!! QnQ;; I really like your comics. I found Para-Ten earlier today and just breezed through this all.. ^^’ You’re depriving me of sleep. I feel a bit bad for not stopping to comment at some point, though..
Late blooming is cool. The small detail and little things in life is what makes this appealing. Para-Ten was just so full of emotion and color (and I really wish you’d sell prints of that one, I’d totally buy it!). Anyways, I love your art and hope that you get this figured out again soon! :D

I just found this site and read the whole comic. More? Please?

I only discovered Quiet and Slow today. I’d like you to know you write very compelling stories. Shame about the hiatus, I look forward to more when you do.

Good to see you paid for your domain name again! I was worried I wouldn’t be able to look at this picture over the three months of zero updates.

  14. Savail says:

I wasn’t quite sure whether to put this on the last Para-Ten entry or the latest entry here, then went with this latest Late Bloom entry under the assumption it probably still gets the most traffic (and also since the last Para-Ten entry said updates would be mentioned here). Does anyone know if anything ever came of releasing the full Para-Ten? I went back through the archives to the end of last year and didn’t see anything.

  15. Hermitix says:

Hey, I recently discovered Quiet and Slow through Para-Ten through Happle Tea through 2gag through SMBC through Facebook and I just want you to know I am completely in love with your work. Your art is amazing, your storytelling style is really unique and elegant, and I can’t wait until you return to updating Quiet and Slow. Keep up the good work and thanks so much for bringing these awesome comics into the world!

I hope that you will continue soon :)

  19. Kindren says:

Happy One Year! I was kinda hoping there would be like a 50 page extravaganza yesterday. A man can dream I guess.

Your art and stories are too good to give up reading, so here’s to another year!

  20. Kindren says:

Ah! A week late! Happy two year hiatus! I still check this site on about a monthly basis. Here’s to one more year!

  21. Kindren says:

I’m starting to think Ash isn’t coming back. Happy three years anyways! Gonna have this page in my bookmarks until it is a memory of a dream.
